She truly is cruel and fickle...

Stupidest thing happened yesterday, actually. As I was in the shower and getting ready for work, I had a sudden inspiration. Unofrtunately, it wasn't for Nexus. It was some random webcomic-inspired short section that just played over and over in my head. I managed to write down a bit of it in my notebook while I was at work, and it's still playing as I write this, getting ready for work. I won't mention anything where characters are concerned, because I want to be able to wrap my head around this random bout of inspiration before I decide to confuse you all with it. I'll keep you posted, and hopefully I'll have something posted as well.

Whoa...It's been too long...

The heading says it all. It's been a while since I updated, heck, updated this blog, even. To be honest, I'd hit a wall. I'd blame it on video games, but it wouldn't be fair (on the other hand, recently acquiring Halo for PC and starting a file on The Godfather: Blackhand Edition for the Wii doesn't really help much inspiration-wise). Being sick and coughing up a long near-constantly also has a way of slightly addling the mind, wouldn't you agree?

Inspiration temporarily left me, and I honestly felt like I had no purpose left in life. I know it seems sorta drastic, but when writing is one of your biggest passions in life, if not the biggest, then you'd feel lost, wouldn't you?

Anyway, such a fickle mistress may be coming back to me, seeing as I had about a good half hour to forty-five minutes to write at work earlier this morning. For the latest installment of Nexus, I was really, reeeeeally wanting to write a section with pure Avaani dialogue with English subtitles in parentheses, but I think trying to write that was what made me hit a wall. I changed it around at work, so hopefully I'll have something to work with, and hopefully, you'll have something to read.

I'll update again, hopefully, in a few days when I have the next installment posted.

One-Shot Posted, Wedding's soon to come!

Well, it's obvious to any and all that read this blog that I've posted the one-shot, Two Shots of Bailey's and the Scent of Caramel. Certain circumstances that I mentioned involved me actually finishing writing the piece, and giving the first copy of the story to said dancer, her name shall not be revealed. In any event, the story was written, the first copy has been handed out, and the story has been posted.

In other writing news, I've noticed that Nexus has really hooked a couple of readers. I'm glad to know that my writing is compelling. I wish I could continue with some of my other current works in progress, but I find that inspiration is a cruel and fickle mistress. At least she hasn't let me down yet, though I've hit a bit of a stumbling block where describing a certain character or certain characters in Nexus are concerned. I'm confident I'll get past it. An inflamed throat doesn't help, however.

I'll keep you all posted, and with any luck, I'll have something up soon.

Some slight chapter changes...

I had to change the name of the current chapter to "Brother Anjor", seeing as I had to add in some necessary filler in the next section of the chapter, and I won't make it to the wedding by the end of it.

The name "Anjor" is actually a name for an alien race I made up back in an Urban Geopgraphy project in my last year of high school. I used them for a series of stories I never got around to writing, but I promised myself I'd use them in my next sci-fi story, so here they are. I'm rather proud of my babies (seeing as I created the Anjor, only I can use loving nicknames for them XD), seeing as my creation of their race and their history got me top prize when it came to presenting the class project.

I've got to get to work soon, so I'll be quick about this: The next installment of Nexus should be up within a week, and I've been tinkering with the Excalion idea, so expect that one up in a week or two, provided I can get inspiration to lead me that way.

New Chapter!

Sorry it's been a while. Aside from writing, I've found my love for DDR once more. Aside from the fact that I gained some weight from working and have decided to play DDR again near-constantly to work off all the fried and otherwise unhealthy crap I've been eating, I'm trying to play DDR on standard mode so I can prep myself for playing ITG, or In The Groove, DDR's american offshoot. From what I've seen of it, it's much more challenging than DDR, and my manager at work is the top third in the country. I've seen him play and it was just messed up.

Anyway, onto the progress report. I've posted up a new chapter in Nexus (it's really been in my head), and I've actually started writing down the first part of Nexus' counterpart, a medieval fantasy novel named, unimaginatively enough, Excalion (copyright SFC Omicronus, 2006-2007). Nexus' latest chapter is called "Speak Now Or Forever Hold Peace", which blatantly insinuates what will happen. We find out a little more about Ariano in this part of the chapter as well, something I'm sure a loyal fan would love to see.

I mentioned in my last entry about certain circumstances regarding a certain one-shot self-insertion, and, to be honest, I forgot the copy at home. This week I will not forget, and I will have this one-shot posted.

Any faithful readers of this blog and my work are wondering about the fate of my other stories: Internal Affair, Reaching the Stars, and Elizabeth. I assure you, they are not forgotten. I let inspiration guide me wherever it will, and, unfortunately, it hasn't led me towards the last two. Internal Affair, however, I do have an idea for, and I will work on it, provided I can wrench myself away from Nexus and Excalion.

"Escape From Home" finished!

Well, Escape From Home is done, and not without a bit of struggle. I had a different idea on how to finish that chapter, but I'm still satisfied with how I ended it, though I didn't want Ariano to sound as coldhearted as he was. He means well, but as he said, he's a merchant. I'll probably give him a little more backstory either when the four of them get to Avaani (they will end up there, and they will attend the wedding), or in a one-shot focusing on him and his bride-to-be.

I actually have a one-shot going on in my head (another self-insertion, really), one focusing on my experiences in a little indulgence of mine this past Saturday (May 5th). I actually won't post it until certain circumstances work out, but you'll all find out what I mean eventually.

I will, however, leave you with the title of said one-shot: Two Shots of Bailey's and the Scent of Caramel. Expect to hear from me towards the end of the week concerning how the certain circumstances I mentioned worked out.

Nexus: Chapter One -- Part One

I've posted the first part up of Nexus: Chapter One. I'll be honest: I was really excited and I couldn't hold back posting it any longer. I really want to work on this (which works well, seeing as the Writing Bug is focusing on it) and its counterpart, but I'll leave that for some other time, probably when I've really grounded Nexus down and I've posted a bit further.

I really want this story to take off. I haven't finished a novel since I was ten (it was a crappy storyline at fourteen chapters, five pages a chapter using Times New Roman, ten point), and I have so many story ideas sitting in my computer that I've worked on to various degrees. This one, for some reason, is really prominent in my mind.

Thanks for any and all who support me in this endeavor. I hope to upload again within a week.

It's been a while...

It's been a few days since I've last posted, but don't fret, I've been writing. The first part of Chapter Five of Internal Affair is being written, but my sci-fi / fantasy trilogy has been on my mind lately. I don't believe I ever mentioned a title for the first book, come to think of it. The first book, the sci-fi part of the trilogy, is called 'Nexus'. It centers around a young man, Edwyn, who is thrust into the midst of a raging war and must fulfill a prophecy by finding what is known as Nexus, or the Sword of Time.

I don't want to give out too much in the way of details, seeing as it is ripe for plagiarists (sp?) [I'm really concerned about that, seeing as it has happened to myself and other writers I know]. I know the writing community is better than that, but being as paranoid as I am, I have to cover all the bases, Pembroke-style (frequent readers and reviewers will know what I mean).

Oh, and to H.S. Lennox on AFF.Net, thank you again for your in-depth review. I'm not too familiar with the character of Scarlet O'Hara, though I don't doubt that the character of Josie does resemble her in terms of the way she acts. The whole "I deserve him more" thing tends to unnerve me, especially since I've been in that situation, and it almost destroyed what I have now. It's happening again with Internal Affair, except that what goes on in that story is all in my head.
