A few things to note...

As anyone on AFF.Net knows, I've been writing Excalion pretty much non-stop. Inspiration has decided to slam its foot down on the brakes and chill from the speeding frenzy it's put me on in order to think about what I deem The SwordBearers Trilogy (Copyright 2008 SFC Omicronus).

Nexus, Book One of my trilogy, is going to go through a somewhat dramatic change. Some have been impressed with my attempt at integrating a whole new alien language, and to be honest, it's that one thing that's holding me back from continuing it. As of its next update, I will change any of the "foreign" language from the story on AFF.Net. It's becoming a huge headache, and, much as people thought it was great to add an alien language to the story, I can't keep it up. I'm sorry for any inconvenience on that front.

Oh, I should note, being a more-than-slight fan of katanas, I should note that any mention of swords within the trilogy (most notably Excalion, since it takes place in a medieval-fantasy setting and swords are the weapon of choice) are actually katanas. I may note as I go on which types of Japanese swords
specifically they are. If any readers are totally lost, please refer to the following links:

The following link is to tvtropes.org, on the trope called
Katanas Are Just Better:

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/KatanasAreJustBetter

And this link leads to the trope,
Every Japanese Sword Is A Katana:

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EveryJapaneseSwordIsAKatana

I use Japanese swords for the most part because of the skill and craftsmanship needed to make the sword, not to mention the discipline, dedication and training just to wield one, let alone use it. I find the sword (both the making of it, as well as the use of it in combat), to be the epitome of discipline, skill, and dedication. You have to be properly honed in mind, body, and soul just to hold one, and I want my characters to earn their right to carry one and use it throughout the course of my story.

That's pretty much it for now. I may consider posting some of my work up on my DeviantArt account, but then again, people I talk to don't really consider the writen word to be an art form.

I'm not dead...yet...

I know it's waaaay too late, but belated Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all. I don't expect people to be reading this blog anymore, heading straight to my AFF.Net profile, but to any that still care to drop by, this post is for you.

I posted another chapter of Internal Affair some time before Christmas, and after finishing the chapter, I had a bit of...soul-searching, let's say, to do. This took up most of my holiday season, and hopefully, I don't have to do any more of that. But enough of my life.

Anyway, where my work is concerned, Internal Affair only has a couple more chapters left. I never expected to get as far as it has (maybe only two or three chapters), nor did I expect it to get the attention it did. At least four thousand hits and several reviews later, I'm rather proud of how it turned out.

I've recently been looking back on Reaching The Stars and I'm going to be redoing it...well, rewriting it in a different section of the Originals section of AFF.Net. Expect to see it in the Erotica section within the next month or so.

Roads Leading Back will be reaching a close soon, as well. Thinking on it, I'm not really sure how much longer I can keep those two apart, and whether or not I really can keep them apart. In any event, the way things are going with the current chapter in progress, they'll find their way back into each other's worlds.

I'd write more, but alas, overnight work beckons, and I need the cash to keep this roof over my head and the perks underneath it as well.

Just thought I should give everyone a heads-up...

I know I've been pretty quiet as of late, but I've been busy both on and offline. First off, I updated Nexus a few weeks ago (almost two weeks ago, to be exact). While on the subject of my sci-fi story, I have found that writing an entire language is starting to become a bit confusing, though I'm not giving up this little challenge. To conquer it, I'm writing a translation "booklet", if you will. At this point, I don't have much, but this is a challenge I have sworn to take up. Have faith in me. As I write this little Avaani translation booklet, I will change the speech patterns of the Avaani in previous chapters in order to keep to form, because I'm such a stickler for detail. I'll try my best to keep any and all of my readers posted on that.

Moving past Nexus, other recent work, Roads Leading Back, has hit something of a roadblock. I know where I want this to head, but I haven't gotten my head wrapped around how I want it to move along. I've been testing several different ideas, but nothing so far. I will work towards getting another chapter up within the next couple of weeks. Fear not, faithful readers. You've kept with me so far in my endeavors, and next only to Internal Affair, James' and Jennifer's story has received the most attention. As I said, don't worry. Their story will reach an end. What end it will be, however, even I don't know.

I also have another story in the works, one that I actually took up in order to clear my head and get my thoughts when it comes to my own stories. Someone actually put up a challenge around the beginning of October to remake a story called The Baby Sitter. Now, the person who posted the challenge and the actual author are different people, and unreachable as well. I have sent Jaxxy an e-mail asking if this was...kosher, let's say, but I have not received a reply. More than likely I will not proceed with this challenge-fiction until I receive an e-mail from Jaxxy that this is a valid challenge and I can reply to it, or I have enough to warrant an actual chapter. Either way, I will note that the story, and the challenge, were not written with consent from the author of the original story.

Personally, it feels refreshing to work a remake rather than start something from scratch. I find that writing has always been a source of relaxation for me, and rewriting something may clear my head enough to give me that little push I need to move further ahead with my work.

In response to a review...

I recently re-uploaded the latest chapter of Roads Leading Back, and I felt that a certain reviewer (you know who you are) deserved a proper explanation to their reviews spanning the last few chapters. I should note that this blog entry does not reflect my views towards the reviewer. There was simply too much to add where answers to suggestions are concerned, and since I have unlimited space here, posting my replies here seems more fitting. I should note that in no way am I trying to defend my characters, their choices or their lifestyles. They have already made their choices and acted upon them as befits their character.

The following is an excerpt from a review to Chapter 4 of Roads Leading Back, Crossroads of Conflicting Views:

In chapter 4, it deals with a lot of ethical dilemma I think. I finally agree with Jennifer about Erica's situation and her choice to leave. You know what I've heard if a person gets into a sex business it is usually hard to get out that's why I think it is better if Erica sees other options in life.

Now, if you refer to the proper blog entry (In Regards to Erica and Omi..., dated September 4, 2007), anyone who sees Omi's business at first glance sees it as a sex business. However, not all of Omi's clients' fetishes are sexually based. I have not delved too much into his business into the story because up to and including where the story is sitting right now, the actual business is not important. Omi personally oversees the "training" regimen of each and every one of the women that work for him, should they choose to work for him. Some aspects of this regimen do involve sexual contact, but not all. As seen towards the end of Roads Leading Back: Streets of Uncertainty, we first meet Sylvia playing a dominating role over a female client. Though the woman is naked, there was no sexual contact being made. There might have been before or even after the initial appearance, but, once more, this piece of information does not move plot any.

To continue, the following is taken from the same person's comments to Chapter Five, Boulevards of Sacrifice, Part Two, though I believe it was also supposed to be pointed at its predecessor:

I've noticed that you don't delve deep into the emotion or situation of your characters for long and when you do it is to defend that character's action or choice.

People are very passionate about their own views, and more often than not, get defensive, if not offended, when their views conflict with another's. I'm not saying this because I believe it to be hard fact. I never took professional studies on this sort of thing. I am merely stating this out of observation and experience. Imagine an argument between friends. They have their own separate views on one specific issue, and their conversation steers towards said issue. At this point, they defend their views, mostly to win the argument over the other, but both are firm believers of what they have stated to the other. Now, because they are good friends, their argument reaches something of an impasse, and there is an unspoken agreement that the issue will not be brought up again. Observe the interaction between Sylvia and Jennifer in Crossroads, and you will see an actual example of what I have just described.

To finish off, the following is the same person's review to Chapter Six, Highway of Regret:

Chapter 6, I hope James find out where Jennifer is soon. Doesn't James know his math and it sounds as if he doesn't really know Jennifer as well as he thought. If Omi was such a good guy he should help Jennifer find James. SF Omicron separate yourself from this Omi character because your making his character too grandiose.

James never knew that Jennifer was pregnant, and we have to remember that it's been too long since he's even seen Jennifer, let alone made contact with her. Also, there's always a sense of doubt, as if saying to himself, "It can't possibly be her...could it?" Keep in mind that Jennifer's "disappearance", if you will, was sudden and unexpected. There was no way for Jennifer to find a way to keep in touch with James, especially since his stepfather held no love for her. For all you know, James' stepfather might have seen the letters, ripped them apart and tossed them in the fireplace or the garbage disposal. He never revealed that information to James, and ultimately, we may never know.

Where Omi Cronus is concerned, he is a shameless character insertion on my part. He is a man every man dreams of becoming deep down. If you set aside the character's backstory, he is a wealthy man with a business that pretty much runs on its own, though he loves his business enough to remain an active player in its workings. He is not held down by one woman, and he has plenty of women at his beck and call, if he so chooses to. He has a certain type of fame in the Red Light district for going where no one would dare to. In short, Omi Cronus is a wealthy, powerful person with loyal and faithful women at his side. It may seem way too grandiose for one character, but that all seems to be in the background. All that is being focused on right now is his interactions between himself and the female lead. What will happen later will be anyone's guess.

Looking at my list of stories...

I recently updated once more on Roads Leading Back, and I've been looking at my profile and list of stories lately, and I realize that I haven't updated some of my work in a very long time, such as my first fiction Reaching the Stars, or what seems to be everyone's favorite story, Internal Affair. Obviously, all my stories are important to me, and I loved writing those stories, so I'll put a couple of ideas up on the burner and see if I can get any newer ideas for older works. Of course, I still want to finish Nexus and its other two sibling novels, and I know I will get around to that. There have been a couple of ideas whizzing around in my head concerning Nexus and Excalion, so I'll probably be working on those as I continue with Roads Leading Back.

In regards to Erica and Omi...

Frequent readers have been wondering about my shameless and unimaginative character insertion in my latest story, Roads Leading Back, as well as the choice that one specific character is willing to make. I figure I should add my views to clarify a few things.

The whole character behind Omi Cronus is a man torn irreparably asunder by the loss of his first and only love. He is a man that can no longer feel that type of strong emotion and does not want to seek that connection again for fear of such a link being broken again, and the repercussions of such a thing happening once more. He is still capable of compassion, but he does not want to restrict himself to just one woman. There are plenty of men that dream of having more than one woman at his side with said women only wanting his acceptance without feeling jealous towards each other, and Omi Cronus is a man that has had that dream come true for him. He buys battered women from pimps, takes homeless women off the streets and fearful women from their broken homes. He offers them his home, takes them under his wing, gives them the proper care they need, and offers them either the opportunity to work in his business, or step away and find a new life.

He runs a chain of sexual fetish clubs and is known in the city's Red Light District as The Master, as what you would designate the male superior in any given S&M situation. Many consider it prostitution, but first and foremost, his business' primary objective is to sate the desires of the fetishists that come to him. The women that work for him understand that and he makes that statement clear to any and all that claim his clubs to be nothing more than perverted prostitution. The women working for him have become strong, independent women that have regained their self-confidence and are very loyal to Omi Cronus for giving them the open door necessary to find themselves again.

Now that we have shed some light on Omi, I should shed some light on Erica...

Erica is a young woman that was sexually abused by her father when she was seventeen. Because of that, she sees the simple act of sex as disgusting and vile, and sees herself as dirty for doing such acts to her father. After Jennifer and Erica were taken under Omi's wing and liberated from her father, she was initially relieved to be freed from her father, and is cautious of Omi after she finds out what it is he does.

After living under Omi's care and being treated with nothing less than respect from everyone in Omi's mansion, be it Omi, Jennifer, or any of the girls working for Mr. Cronus, she has seen the positive effect that Omi has given off. The women working for him that she has talked to have told her that he is a gentle man and can be trusted with anything. They have told her that he made them feel important, taught them of a human's more taboo desires, and how to sate the desires of those that depend on perversity for that kind of release. He has taught them to be strong in will (many of the women that work for him play submissive roles) and to remember that, despite the roles they play in their workplace, they are as strong as their customers. Erica sees this to be true and wants those redeeming qualities. Unfortunately, that is all she sees and wants that side of Omi to herself. She is unaware of the broken soul and wants the image of the man exclusively for herself.

I know that it's tough to swallow, but I feel that it should shed some better light on the two most confusing characters in my latest story.

Streets of Uncertainty

I uploaded the latest chapter for Roads Leading Back last Sunday, and I must admit, I had to laugh at myself looking back on it. I've been suffering from Law and Order withdrawal, and I've been dying to add a likeness of myself in one of my works (I actually will in a larger project I'm working on), so those thoughts ended up on that story. The sad part is that things seem well enough. By that, I mean the story is just going down that road, and now I'm coming up with things down that way. I don't write with an outline because I find an outline would disrupt what I call the "flow" of a story (I've mentioned the term in several of my reviews).

Anyway, I'm still working on Nexus, never fear. As I've said oh so many times before, inspiration is fickle, and right now it's pointing my head towards James, Jennifer and Erica. Bit by bit, I'm working on my larger projects, and, with any luck, I'll be able to update a bit more frequently on the works that everyone is keeping their eyes on.
