I added the latest chapter of Roads Leading Back last night, and as I was editing it, I felt the need to explain myself. I noticed that the paternal figures, particularly in this story, seem very...villainous and see the world in terms very demeaning towards women. It's probably because I never had a suitable father figure during the formative years of my life that I've made paternal characters either inherently evil, or reluctant or confused to being a parent because of their fear of parental ineptitude. In my opinion, I don't think I'd make a very good parent. I already make a sad excuse enough for an uncle and godfather.
Anyway, I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I guess I really needed to get that off my chest, seeing as it felt like it bore me down through the course of writing that chapter. I really felt terrible about what I did to Jennifer and Erica (characters in Roads Leading Back, if anyone just happens to be stopping by), but their father is a drunk who hasn't had any in a while. AFF.Net and the musical inspiration for this story influenced the whole daddy/daughter incestual pairing (at first, I wouldn't catch myself writing incest, but here I am), and it seemed to work well with this story. Don't worry, faithful readers. It shouldn't get any worse than this for James, Erica, and Jennifer.
